Raw Earth Wild Sky

We strive to create specialty pieces that make a statement in fashion as well as a statement in their goodness to the environment - creating beautiful, healthy and unique organic clothing that brings environmental awareness and sustainable style to our customers.

raw earth wild sky  is a contemporary, organic line inspired by nature’s colors and seasons. Signature details include deconstructed seams and raw hems, novelty hand-dyed or hand-painted techniques and interesting trims applied in unusual ways that create a raw, unique feel for each piece. The look is beautifully relaxed and broken-in, yet well-crafted.

The creative force behind this label are two experienced and versatile designers each with notable and integrated backgrounds in fashion and design.

Karen Kananen, a FIDM graduate, has over 15 years of experience in the LA market working with both larger sales-oriented companies and smaller 'hands-on' contemporary lines. Before establishing raw earth wild sky, she was the designer behind the successful contemporary label 'eco-ganik' selling to many well-known and influential stores.

Samantha Robinson started her career in London after graduating from Harrow College of Art now University of London. Leaving her native UK she ventured on to Sydney, Melbourne, New York and finally Los Angeles working for a wide range of labels such as French Connection, Nicole Farhi, Country Road Australia, Fenn Wright & Manson and Elle Apparel.

The two designers are long-time friends inspired to create their own line in 2006 by their intense love of fashion and great concern for our planet. The birth of their daughters became the driving force behind their decision to start a contemporary, yet environmentally conscious company.

Drawing on inspiration from their international residencies, raw earth wild sky emanates a modern sophistication in design while the organic materials allow for a flexibility inspired by the timeless Bohemian nature of California.

Each piece is hand-made in Los Angeles using organic fabrics and earth-friendly methods in its creation.
